Wanshi Chen
|
Wanshi Chen is currently a 3GPP TSG RAN1 – a work group responsible
for physical layer over-the-air standardization -- Chairman appointed in
August 2013.
Wanshi Chen has over 19 years of experiences in telecommunications in
leading telecom companies including operators, infrastructure vendors, and
chipset vendors. From 2006, he has been with Qualcomm Corporate R&D
contributing to system design, prototyping and implementation, and
standardization of 4G LTE/LTE-Advanced and more recently 5G (New Radio or
NR). He has been attending 3GPP TSG RAN1 for 11 years, representing Qualcomm
and playing an instrumental role in 4G and 5G standardization, as a Vice
Chairman from August 2013 for 4 years, and as Chairman starting from August
2017. From 2000 to 2006, he worked at Ericsson, San Diego, responsible for
3GPP2 related system design, integration, and standardization. During 1996
and 1997, he worked as an engineer for China Mobile, primarily participated
in wireless network maintenance and performance optimization.
Wanshi Chen is a recipient of Qualcomm’s IP Excellence Award, Upendra
Patel Achievement Awards for Outstanding Contributions to LTE, and Super
Qualstar Award from Qualcomm CRD.
The highest degree that Wanshi Chen has received is a Ph.D. degree in
electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, Los
Angeles, CA, USA.

Chia-Chun Hsu

MediaTek Inc. is a leading fabless IC design company in semiconductor industry and one of major contributors of 5G NR standardization and product.
After received Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA, Alex Hsu has actively participated 3GPP standards since 2008 for 4G LTE (Rel-8 to 15) on RAN2 (L2/3) and cross L1/2/RRC/NAS topics. From 2017, lead MediaTek 3GPP RAN2 team on 5G NR research and standardization.
Currently served as rapporteur of R-16 capability enhancement study.

Sergio Parolari

|
Sergio is a Standards Manager in
ZTE's Radio Standards department. He represents ZTE in 3GPP RAN and RAN WG2
groups. As part of this activity he's also the rapporteur of the Stage 2
specification on "Multi-connectivity". He also supports ZTE product
marketing activities for 5G in Europe.
Sergio has 20 years of experience in telecommunication technologies, in R&D
and standardization environments. Before joining ZTE in 2010, he worked for
Siemens and then Nokia, covering different positions, starting as System
Engineer for the design of algorithms and procedures for mobile networks
equipments, then as Standardization Specialist representing his company in
different 3GPP and ETSI standard bodies and finally as Technical Product
Manager driving the definition of new products for evolved 3G and LTE wireless
systems. Sergio holds a M.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering from the
Polytechnic of Milan, Italy.

Chenghock Ng

|
NEC Corporation is a leader in the integration
of IT and network technologies that benefit businesses and people around the
world. I joined NEC Corporation in 1990 as an engineer and involved in
developing the PDC (Personal Digital Cellular) system in Japan.
In 1997 I started the 3G (3rd Generation
mobile system) related activitives that involved participation in TTC
(Telecommunication Technology Committee) and ARIB(Association of Radio
Industries and Businesses) in Japan as well as in ITU-T standardization.
I have also been working on the development of
NEC's 3G RAN(Radio Access Network) and 4G LTE products, such as RNC (Radio
Network Controller) and eNode B. Currently, my duties include 5G
standardization in 3GPP and managing a standards team in NEC.
I have been actively participating in 3GPP
RAN-WG3 and plenary meetings since 1999, starting from the very first RAN-WG3
meeting. From 2001 to 2009, I served as Vice Chairman of RAN-WG3.
