Kazuaki Takeda joined NTT DOCOMO in 2008,
and has been involved in research and development activities related to
wireless access technologies for LTE and LTE-Advanced. He has been active
contributor to 3GPP since 2008, and has attended 3GPP meetings since 2009. He
has worked on various issues such as carrier aggregation, DL MIMO in Rel-10 LTE,
physical downlink control channel designs in Rel-11 LTE, small cell enhancement
in Rel-12 LTE, and enhanced MTC and NB-IoT in Rel-13. In Rel-14, he has been a
rapporteur of study item on new radio (NR) and led discussions related to NR
initial access by chairing offline sessions. He has also contributed to
completing a set of technical reports such as 3GPP TR38.912 and TR38.802.
Currently, he has been contributing to standardization of NR as a rapporteur of
work item on NR. Through these experiences and his R&D activities, he has
gained deep technical knowledge and understanding regarding 3GPP radio systems
and working procedures.
Kazuaki Takeda received the B.E., M.E., and
Dr. Eng. degrees in communications engineering from Tohoku University, Sendai,
Japan, in 2003, 2004 and 2007 respectively. Since 2005, he has been a Japan
Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) research fellow. With his technical
background and leadership skills, I’m proud to recommend Dr. Takeda as a
candidate for vice chairman of TSG WG1. We would greatly appreciate your
