近年來無人機（unmanned aerial vehicle, UAV）技術需求與門檻提升，3GPP所制定的通訊標準將能提供相應的技術解決方案。美國電信產業解決方案聯盟（Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, ATIS）發布新白皮書「ATIS Delivers Insight to Help ICT Industry Understand 3GPP’s UAV-Related Activities」，期望藉此協助電信商推廣自身的創新應用並在標準會議提出相應的技術貢獻（technical contributions）。
