Case Study for FIDO and PKI in Taiwan
Release date:2018-08-22 / File number:TAICS TR-0006 v1.0
FIDO (Fast Identity Online) has been getting popular and taking a bigger part in the development of e-authentication. Anyhow, PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) also keeps a very important role to secure the trusted infrastructure in Asia, since both financial and government sectors are highly regulated in the Asian region, it would be very helpful if FIDO can be deployed based on the existing PKI system, to accelerate the adoption of FIDO and provide a better user experience for PKI applications.
This research organizes the status of FIDO and PKI integration in Taiwan, and provides reference to the members of APKIC (Asia PKI Consortium, Asia PKI Alliance) including Korea, India, Thailand and Macau. Also on behalf of TAICS, the research was acted as part of contribution to FIDO Alliance. The FIDO Alliance officially posted the final version on the official website (https://fidoalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/FIDO-UAF-and-PKI-in-Asia-White- Paper.pdf).
