6GIF and 6G-IA Sign MoU to Foster Taiwan–Europe Cooperation for Future 6G Networks and Ecosystems
The 6G Industry Forum (6GIF) and the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 3 June during a ceremony at the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2026 held in Málaga, Spain.
Through this MoU, 6GIF and 6G-IA aim to strengthen cooperation and promote closer ties between Taiwan and Europe in the development of 6G technologies, innovation ecosystems, and industrial collaboration.
Their collaboration, which encompasses several areas and activities of mutual interest, also reflects the growing importance of trusted international partnerships in shaping the future of 6G and contributing to the creation of an open, interoperable, and globally aligned 6G ecosystem.
Dr. Pei-Zen Chang, President of the 6G Industry Forum (6GIF) and President of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), stated that, “Taiwan and Europe share common values in promoting open innovation, trusted technology cooperation, and secure and resilient networks. The MoU marks an important step toward building a long-term strategic partnership in 6G, including future collaboration in standards, industrial ecosystems, research cooperation, and trusted supply chains.”
Dr. Colin Willcock, Chairman of the Board of the 6G-IA and Chairman of the Governing Board of the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking, said: “We believe that a single global 6G standard is vital. We further believe this can only be achieved through broad collaboration and dialogue. With this in mind, I welcome this MoU as another step on the road to a future mobile communication system that can meet the world’s needs”.
The partnership underscores the importance of trusted international cooperation in shaping future 6G technologies and strengthening resilient and diversified innovation and supply chain ecosystems between Taiwan and Europe.
