Taipei (Taiwan), Frankfurt/Main (Germany) December 6, 2023 – Taiwan Association of Information and Communication Standards (TAICS) and 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) formalized their commitment through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This visionary agreement is poised to forge and consolidate a sustainable global ecosystem for Industrial 5G within the realms of connected industries and automation.

Both partners aim to ensure the best possible applicability of industrial 5G technology and to influence 5G development and deployment in line with industrial requirements. The MoU seeks to strengthen the cooperative relationship and leverage global leadership in the unprecedented worldwide adoption of Industrial 5G.

The mission of TAICS is to synergize standardization affairs on 5G, 6G and ICT technologies, and to facilitate collaborative development of standards among stakeholders of the ICT industry in Taiwan. TAICS has also been actively participating in the activities of the international standards development organizations and forums to develop new standards for domestic, regional and global adoption.

The mission of 5G-ACIA is to ensure the best possible applicability of mobile radio especially the 5G technology for connected industries, including the manufacturing and process industries. 5G-ACIA will ensure that the interests and particular aspects of the industrial domain are adequately considered in 5G standardization and regulation. 5G-ACIA will further ensure that the ongoing 5G developments are understood by and transferred to the industrial domain. This includes possible integration concepts and migration paths, together with the evaluation of key technologies emerging from 5G standardization bodies.
